Physio Balgowlah – what is Your Body all about?

Over the past few months, I’ve been so happy to call Balgowlah Heights the home of my Physio and Pilates studio, and to meet so many incredible people in the community.

One of the things I’ve discovered over my career is that there are so many different interpretations of what a Physio does, or who needs physio, so I wanted to take a moment to explain it from my perspective and the ethos of Your Body Physio & Pilates.

Essentially, Your Body is a new, modern Physiotherapy clinic and Pilates studio with a hands-on treatment approach. We use evidence-based treatment techniques and strong experience to rehabilitate our clients’ injuries, resolve pain and help them strengthen their bodies.

Specialised Physiotherapy Treatment

Accurate Diagnosis

Diagnosis is crucial to treat injury – when you visit your physio, they’ll start by asking you a few questions about your injury or concern. We’ll get a detailed history so we can understand as much as possible about it to inform any treatment plan.

We use clinical tests to help determine the root cause of your issues. These are pain-free and won’t cause you any discomfort, but will help us to accurately diagnose your issue or injury.

Treatment Approach

We provide therapeutic, hands-on treatment to relieve symptoms of pain, muscle tightness, inflammation and joint stiffness. We use physiotherapy soft-tissue massage and joint mobilisation techniques to optimise results. We may also use other modalities such as dry needling, taping, ice, heat and electrotherapy as needed. Each treatment is individualized and based on the person receiving it.

We address the underlying cause of your injury and prescribe detailed exercise for strengthening, stretching and stabilising the area.

We also help you to understand your injury by explaining it in detail to you and providing expert advise on how to manage it, and prevent it in future. This may involve postural education, ergonomic advice, return-to-sport programming, Pilates, pain-management strategies and communication with your doctor or another healthcare specialist.
